My cooperating teacher emailed me this link this morning. Check out the article. I think it will scare some professionals away from social net-working sites. http://www.nea.org/home/12784.htm
I think having a facebook or myspace might actually come in handy at some point, and here me out on this.
In our school it became a running gag that students make profiles with teachers names on them and use these things to post things that maybe "inappropriate." If a parent were to come across this it could lead a some problems. If you already have you own profile however you can simple login and show anyone complaining about the phantom profile. You can not stop a student or anyone from making a profile and putting your name on it. The best way to combat it in my opinion is to stay in front of the situation.
Little confusing maybe, but I hope you can get my point.
